This is a replica of one of the 4900 Hall class of Great Western 4-6-0 Locomotives. When C. B. Collett became Chief Mechanical Engineer in 1922, he was’ asked to produce a  4-6-0 to replace the Mogul ’43xx’ class. His answer was to reduce the coupled wheel diameter of ‘Saint’ class No. 2925 Saint Martin from 6 feet 8 inches to 6 feet 0 inches. After a short period of evaluation, the first order for eighty Hall Class locomotives to these dimensions was given. These first eighty were fitted with spring compensating beams fitted between the axles but subsequent orders did not have them fitted and on the original eighty, the beams were gradually removed. Further locomotives of the class were ordered with very little alteration to the original design. Nos. 6916 to 6970 entered traffic without names during the Second World War but naming of these engines took place between 1946 and 1948.

6946  Heatherden Hall. Built unnamed December 1942. First shed allocation Cardiff Canton. Named March 1946. August 1950 shed allocation Cardiff Canton. March 1959 and last shed allocation Pontypool. Withdrawn June 1964. Scrapped at Bird’s, Newport.

This model was made from a Wills kit fitted to a Tri-ang 4-6-0 hall class chassis. The model has fine scale wheels, sprung buffers, hook and chain, brass name/number plates and the Wills Tender with real coal. There is also a pair of crew on the running plate.

The Model name plates (6946 Heatherden Hall) were custom ordered to name the model after my ex-wife! with a new fiance and renewed model interest, I am now selling this “outdated” locomotive!

The engine has been stripped down, cleaned and serviced and is an good runner. I have made a video of it running on a test track which is here:

It is Analogue DC powered and is not DCC ready. Please examine the photographs as they document the condition better than any words I can use; the photos are the condition of the engine.

The engine does not have a box. It will be packaged and sent Royal Mail 2nd Class (signed for) – typically 2 to 3 working days after despatch.
