Wiking ~ 1:160 (N scale) – Set of two cars, with caravans ~ Opel Rekord and Chevrolet Malibu ~ superb, un-boxed condition.
This Wiking set comes without its box, but all the vehicles are in very nice condition. The set comprises:
1 x Opel Rekord (Buff / Taupe ?) with small, single axle caravan.1 x Chevrolet Malibu (Teal / Light Blue) with large, two axle caravan.
The Wiking model number above(0922.09) refers to this set, but with different coloured versions of the same two cars. This set may be an earlier variant, possibly 0922.06 ~ I’m not certain. This particular version seems much rarer than the others.
One thing I noticed: as far as I can see, the caravans cannot be detached/re-attached. To separate them from the cars, you would need to split the base. This does make them easier to pick up though.
Both cars, and their caravans, are in virtually perfect condition. The odd specks of dust were the only imperfections I could find. The “glass” is nice & clear and there are no signs of wear, no traces of glue etc.
Modelled in 1:160 scale, these vehicles are ideal for N scale model railways and would look great on a layout. Although aimed at the continental market, all of these vehicles were common enough in the UK.
The photographs show the actual models you will receive but, please remember, these are tiny N scale items and the slightest speck of dust will look like a lunar crater – the Opel is only about 30mm long. Looking at the photos, I noticed the Opel’s front wheels were off the ground; this has since been fixed – an easy job.
Like most Wiking products, this rare set is quite hard-to-find on this side of the Channel, so this is a chance to avoid the heavy, continental postal charges.
