Tri-ang R259: BR class 7P6F 4-6-2 ‘Britannia’, no.70000, working, unboxed, VGC

Tri-ang produced their first loco-driven model of the BR Britannia class 7P6F 4-6-2 loco in 1960, producing the namesake loco of the class for 12 years – with a few variants – before a new model was introduced in 1975. This listed item, R259, is from the pre-1971 production run, as denoted by its metal nameplates (from 1971 stickered nameplates were used).

This OO scale loco, which is not DCC-ready, is supplied unboxed. I have cleaned the wheels and commutator, and lubed as appropriate: upon track testing the loco now runs very strongly in both directions and at all speeds. Cosmetically, the tender is missing its coal load ‘insert’ (photo 11) and has worn decals on one side (photo 9), the front loco buffer beam is cracked (photo 12) and there is some playwear on the loco body. Otherwise, the loco is in very good condition for a 50+ year-old used model, with intact buffers and couplings.
