Abandoned/Uncollected Goods
AusChoice reserve the right to dispose of abandoned/uncollected goods under the provisions of the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act 1967.
Written Notice
Written notice will be given to the buyer/owner, either by email or post, outlining AusChoice’s intention to dispose of the goods.
Holding the Goods
After giving written notice, AusChoice will retain the goods for a further 28 days, after which time AusChoice can then dispose of the goods, unless the buyer/owner has collected them or finalised delivery instructions.
Disposing of the Goods
AusChoice will take reasonable care to ensure that the goods are sold for the best price that can reasonably be obtained under the circumstances at the time of sale.
Any money left over after selling the goods, and paying the relevant charge and disposal costs, is unclaimed money. AusChoice must handle those funds in accordance with Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act 1967. If the sale does not cover the relevant charge and disposal costs, the business may pursue the buyer/owner or person who left the goods for the debt in court.
If the goods have been awaiting collection for 6 months or more, all funds will be withheld and kept by AusChoice.
