This little job-lot consists of four(4) Hornby semaphore signals, as detailed below. They are all in good working order and are clean & tidy. The ladders are all in perfect condition and the lugs/clips that hold the posts into the bases are all undamaged too. All four are upper quadrant signals, on square posts.
The bases are embossed with “Hornby” or “Hornby Railways”, along with “Made in England” but, unusually, none of them carry a Hornby part . I’m guessing they are R171s and R172s.
The 3 taller signal are about 12cm in height; the shorter one measures about 9cm. One thing I noticed, the arm of one of the tall signals is red/white but has a distant notch in the end. It doesn’t look like a D.I.Y. botch, so maybe a factory mistake. Such signals did exist on the real railway – just a very long time ago. Altering it would be easy enough, if you don’t want to keep it as an oddity/talking point. I wonder how long it would take folk to spot it – took me a while.
I was astonished to see what these cost if you buy them new nowadays – this little lot could save you a fortune. Of course, buying 4 together makes the postage a bit more bearable too. Free postage applies to any other items you buy at the same time.
