Saltford Models by Brian Clarke, K10 Bagnall – Peckett style small 0-4-0 tank locomotive. This is an unfinished project.
The white metal body parts have been assembled reasonably well with glue but the cab sides have become detached and require refitting. Sadly the original builder didn’t remove all the moulding flash so that will need to be attended to. The simple split-frame pick-up chassis is built and runs quite well when the weight of the body is placed on it. The body will also need attaching to the chassis. Missing from the chassis are connecting rods and cylinders, but side skirts would be an easy substitute. If visible rods and cylinders are preferred, I suspect the connecting rod attached to the rear driving wheel by an outside flycrank arrangement, which will also have to be provided, as will couplings.
Looking at the loco side-on it appears to be drooping at the smokebox end, this looks like the front axle may require repositioning. Although the parts are in good condition I suspect it would be the best plan to strip the loco down and rebuild, it is not a complicated job! I purchased it many years ago with the intention of converting it to 006.5n to represent an 18″ gauge line on my layout but a change of plan has seen it unused.
