Keyser K’s Kit Built metal Streamlined Coronation Class LMS Blue ‘Queen Elizabeth’ Loco & Tender. Now then, as can be seen, the Loco has been built & finished to the the finest standard. It is an utterly stunning Loco, housed on a late ‘Gold Armature’ Fully flanged M2 Wrenn Large Driving wheeled chassis. The Tender top is an original Plastic Wrenn version, with a standard diecast chassis, therefore not the metal tender which would have originally be in the K’s Kit. So… On to the chassis… It is my opinion that the chassis has never been on a track, just through examination and the fact it was commissioned by the previous owner, for display purposes only. Therefore, it has sat in a cabinet for it’s entire life. The chassis however, is in fully working condition. Although please be aware, it has a flanged centre driving wheel, so will not be too happy going around standard curves. As many collectors will know, Wrenn commissioned Keyser to undertake their own Coronation, which explains why initially you would mistake this for an original Wrenn Coronation. There are a few subtle differences though – Namely the separately cast parts, such as the chimney, cab roof vent, buffers and cab back head. Also, there is slightly more detail, to include an oval makers plate cast on each side above the driving wheels. Also, even though the body is white metal just like Wrenn’s, it is markedly thicker, therefore better at maintaining it’s structural integrity. However, when all said and done it is pretty much identical to the Wrenn Coronation. The Loco & Tender are in superb, very near mint condition. An absolutely stunning example, no reserve.
