You can buy the PCB’s for Talking Electronics 18,000u Capacitor Discharge Units for $3.00 each (GBP2.35) plus $4.00 (GBP3.15) postage.
There are two versions. Version 1 has the 4 electrolytics flat on the PC board. Version 2 is
called SLIMLINE and has the 4 electrolytics standing upright.
A list of components comes with the PC boards and if you think you can buy all the components at a lower cost than the fully assembled and tested modules we offer on the internet, here is your opportunity.
These Capacitor Discharge Units are easy to connect to your layout with screw terminals to connect your leads to the PC board.
VERSION 1 SPECIAL FEATURES
Input voltage can be AC or DC.
Three sets of input terminals are provided.
8v to 12v AC
13v to 20v Ac
12v to 30v DC
Comes with instructions for connecting to plug pack (wall wort) plus how to connect to two plug
packs (in series) to get the required voltage.
Zener diode regulated to prevent over-charging.
Version 1 (Flat) can be bought fully built with four 4,700u electrolytics and includes postage worldwide for GBP8.40
VERSION 2 FEATURES:
Input voltage 12vAC to 15vAC. NOTE: This must be AC.
Zener diode regulated to prevent over-charging.
Ideal for connecting to the 15v AC terminals of your train transformer.
The LED on the board shows the electrolytics are charged.

Version 2 (Slimline) can be bought fully built with four 4,700u electrolytics and includes postage worldwide for GBP8.60
