Damage varies, some sheets only have one or two small blemishes, others are scuffed over the whole surface, they may be marked on both sides or just one. An economic solution when surface finish doesn’t matter.This is a quality virgin grade material, with a matt finish on one side & a factory finish on the reverse, BOTH SIDES CAN BE PAINTED.All sheets are 220mm x 325mm (8 1/2″ x 12 3/4″), about 15% bigger than A4. Sheet sizes may vary +-3mm.Working With PlasticardPlasticard is a hard plastic, it’s industrial name is High Impact Polystyrene Sheet (this is NOT expanded polystyrene), known as plasticard in the UK or styrene sheet in the US. The same plastic is normally used for injection moulded kits.The thickest sheets are quite rigid, the thinnest (0.25mm) are more like paper.Several methods can be used to cut plasticard. Very thin sheets can be cut right through with a sharp craft knife or scalpel. Otherwise the easiest way to cut styrene is by scoring it with a knife or scalpel, it should break cleanly along the score. There will be a raised edge along the score line, this edge can be cleaned up with a file card or scraped with the knife blade. Special tools are available for cutting curves but engineers or draughtsman’s dividers can also be used. Thinner sheets can be cut with scissors where accuracy is not needed.Plasticard can be glued with polystyrene cement or the solvents supplied by model shops for the assembly of plastic kits. USE IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA. Cyanoacrylate adhesives (such as Superglue) can also be used. Do not use contact adhesives as many of them contain solvents that damage the plastic.Plasticard can be painted with any of the enamels or acrylic paints that are sold for plastic kits. The acrylic aerosols sold by car accessory shops are usually suitable but test on some scrap material first.To permanently bend plasticard tape to a curved surface then steam it over the kettle, or soak in hot water. Use something slightly smaller than needed as the plastic will spring back a little when removed. Some trial & error is usually needed! When heating any plastic, do so in a WELL VENTILATED AREA.Plasticard can be vacuum formed, the sag temperature is about 80C.Postage, Packing, Payment & DeliveryPaymentPaypal Only.Postage DiscountsI will always post by the most economic means & combine postage whenever possible.
