This is a very unusual o gauge model of a former Caledonian Railway Pickersgill tank locomotive , in LMS crimson. It is either scratch built or made from a metal kit. I believe the originals mostly operated out of Glasgow, but that the LMS tried them on other duties, including banking on the West Coast Main line.

The model is well made, with sprung buffers, three link couplings and footplate crew in the cab. The finish and detailing is, I think, pretty good all round, but please study the photos to make up your own minds on that! It runs well, including round 2nd radius Lenz curves, with DCC sound and stay alive courtesy of a Zimo decoder. The sound file is the Youchoos LMS Fairburn tank, which nicely mimicks the deep, rather boat-like hoot of the “Caley” style whistle.

This is a really lovely and unique model which I will miss, but it doesn’t belong in rural Somerset (where my model railway – on which it is photographed- is set), so I’m hoping it can find a new home where it will be appreciated, and get a bit more use.

Please look carefully at the pictures – ONLY THE LOCOMOTIVE DESCRIBED IS FOR SALE! – and ask questions. Postage, appropriately insured, to the UK only please
