Hello, this listing is for a set of parts to assist in the construction of a 4 wheel passenger luggage brake in O gauge / 7mm scale.
This set of detailed cast resin parts have been produced from my own CAD assisted patterns. The 6 individual parts comprise, 2x vehicle sides, 2x plain ends and 2x guards duckets (lookouts). Parts feature detailed mouldings on timber panelling, droplights, door ventilators and hinges. The parts work easily with common modelling tools and glue readily with an adhesive such as superglue, requiring the builder just to fabricate a simple floor, partitions and a roof from card or styrene. If you enjoy rolling stock construction and don’t mind doing a bit of work yourself, this offers an economical alternative to complete kits whilst still being much quicker and more straightforward that starting completely from scratch.
This vehicle is based on the 25′ passenger luggage brakes that were designed by William Kirtley for the opening of the Hull & Barnsley Railway in 1885, although it is widely believed that all the H&B stock was in fact constructed from designs he had created previously for the LCDR. Vehicles of this style were very popular second hand purchases for the emerging Light railways. A luggage brake could be tacked on the back of the pick up goods providing facilities for the guard as well as somewhere to stow milk churns, parcels and the odd basket of hens, not to mention the occasional unofficial passenger!
The dimensions of the assembled body are 175mm long x 52mm wide (62mm over duckets).
My timber framed chassis kit is suitable for this vehicle with modification to shorten the ends of the sole bars.
