LNER ACFI Water Feed Heater conversion kit for Hornby A1 or A3 model.
Between 1928 and 1938 A1 No. 2576 ‘The White Knight’ was selected for trials with ACFI water feed heater equipment. The pump was mounted on the left hand side of the boiler over the front driving wheels, with pipework running externally along the side of the boiler. The pumps increased the water feed temperature to the boiler to 107 degrees centigrade and produced a significant saving in coal.
The Niu Models kit has be designed in 3D CAD from the LNER drawings to fit the current Hornby loco drive A1 models. However, with modification it will fit the previous Hornby tender drive
The conversion kit includes ACFI Pump (2 parts), ACFI Support Bracket, Zenith Separator, Boiler Feed Cleat and Smokebox Mixing Camber, as shown in photo 1 and etched brass nameplates, as shown in photo 2
1mm, 0.8mm & 0.5mm dia brass rod is required to complete the conversion.
