DESCRIPTION: This is a brand new item with its box in perfect new condition (apart from a very slight tear showing in picture 3) and is a scale length model rather than the common shorter version. (Ref: 1310)
DESIGN: HST’s began replacing earlier Type 4 and Type 5 diesels on all principal non-electrified routes in the mid to late 1970’s. Forty years on, sets of eight Mk 3 coaches with a diesel power car at each end operate on all non-electrified main lines, Great Western, Midland Main Line and Cross Country, as well as services out of Euston and Kings Cross where only part of the route is electrified. Probably the most successful product of the diesel age, forecasts suggest they could be in service for another thirty years. LIVERYMidland Mainline, being the first franchisee for the Midland Main Line route, from 1996 to 2007, carried its highly popular livery of beige and teal with a tangerine stripe until 2004 when it was replaced with a more sober petrol and white box pattern for the remaining three years of its franchise.
