Model Railway Pad Printing Equipment 2mm 3mm 4mm 7mm Scale. Condition is Used.

Pad Printing allows the delivery of a very fine, even layer of paint and is particularly well suited to private owner wagons. It leaves none of the complications inherent in manipulating transfers yet allows Lettering to form around surface detail like strapping and rivets etc.

An additional advantage lies in the fact that you have complete control over the artwork. Using inkscape, for example, you can trace the lettering from a photograph of the original Wagon and replicate it perfectly on your model. Fastidious modellers often pick up on manufacturers use of trutype fonts which fail to convey the nuances of the sign writer’s art and which can mar otherwise excellent models.

For sale is a good quality, robust pad printer plus inks, an assortment of pads, the necessary uv light box to create printing plates and an assortment of plates for 4mm wagons using details traced from photographs. These plates fit the Slaters 4mm 10 t 7 Plank Side Door, the 10t end door and the 12t end door.

Pad printing is a bit of a black art best learned through practice. I can give some pointers but have to say that the various small suppliers around the country offer an incredibly helpful service and can usually help you out if you get stuck on issues of print quality etc.

I have used this on Slaters kits in 4mm as well as on the various Peco N gauge wagon kits. Limited runs of 50 or so works out cheaper for clubs and private modellers seeking to replicate rakes for wagons that aren’t available from the trade. It won’t make you rich but it’ll keep you busy.

It’ll be a nightmare to package up so collection from Swansea would be preferred. Courier costs likely to exceed 40 because of the need to use multiple boxes.
