On offer, 2 x New Old Stock MFA Mechanical Speed Controllerssuitable for a large Diesel Electric locomotive. These are now unobtainable but I purchase two of these unitsa long time ago with the intention of using them in a gauge 3 dieselelectric. The idea was to have a 4-strokeglow motor (RCV 120) driving an MFA Torpedo 800 motor as a generator. The generator would feed into the mechanicalspeed controller for the reversing and speed control functions. This would in turn be connected to thetraction motors. The advantage of this system is that the controller willcope with the varying DC output of the generator with engine speed. You would have dual control over train speedby varying the glow motor output revs and the speed controller, all carried outby radio control. I never got around to doing this but the theory is sound. You would only need one controller but therewould be a spare in case anything ever went wrong with the one fitted. These were for a gauge 3 (2 gauge) locobut there will be room in a large gauge 1 diesel as well (just). Both units are offered together with free postage.
