LNER D49/1 4-4-0 locomotive 2710 “Lincolnshire”
A 1927 Gresley design, this is a quality model, professionally constructed and finished in LNER lined green and carrying etched nameplates “Lincolnshire” no. 2710.
I believe this was built from a McGowan white-metal kit some years ago, and has been in my collection for almost 20 years, though has not seen serious use in all that time. Fitted with Romford wheels and gears and five pole motor. Engine and tender chassis are of competently engineered brass. Screw-link couplings to the engine and tender: tension-link couplings could easily be mounted
More recently the cylinders and valve gear were overhauled with new cylinders being fitted but not yet painted, and the tender wheels were replaced with the later Markits variety with nickel-silver tyres and an updated engine-tender drawbar assembly.
A nicely built model in near mint condition.
