LIONEL O Gauge #751E ‘CITY of PORTLAND’ 3-CAR SET.
Manufactured by The Lionel Corporation in USA, circa 1935.A brilliant interpretation of this classic diesel unit from the streamline era in toy form. When introduced in 1934 this was top of the Lionel range, production lasted through to 1941.Comprises; 705W Power Car, 753 Centre Car & 754 Observation Car. The whole train measures 31″ (79 Cm) long.Die-cast nose, tail & air-smoothed under belly, pressed steel car sides & roofs. Original celluloid glazing units.The whole set is a total restoration to professional standard, the motor has been cleaned & serviced. To the best of my knowledge no reproduction parts have been used in the rebuild.Very good colour match & excellent transfers (decals) to simulate the rubber stamped lettering of the original.Up & running with all lights working.A great addition for cabinet display or working vintage layout. NB. this train requires 072, 3 ft. radius curves to run successfully.Overall in excellent condition, inevitable small scratches to the vestibules & one small area of paint loss to on car side (see photo).This is substantially made & therefore very heavy, hence high shipping cost.
