You are bidding on a good used condition Hornby ’00’ gauge class 52 (Type 4) Western Harrier (running number D1008) diesel locomotive in British Rail blue livery which has been converted to run on both DC and DCC control systems.
This model was originally released by Hornby circa 1980/81 and this example is in excellent cosmetic condition for its circa 40 years of age with no visible age related play worn marks.
It was fully serviced and run on DC before the conversion was made. It ran smoothly on DC in both directions on my test loop of track.
The loco was then converted to run on a DCC system and test run on the same loop of track with a Gaugemaster DCC26 chip fitted and controlled with my NCE Powercab system (see pictures). Again it ran smoothly with no issues.
The conversion includes the availability of the white, yellow and green function wires and 4 x blue common +ve supply wires should there be a desire to fit lighting. These are bundled up and stored in the chassis at the side of the socket board (see pictures).
The loco runs on DC with the blanking plug fitted (see pictures) and will be dispatched in this running condition (i.e. a decoder with a standard 8 pin plug will be required to run in DCC mode).
With the excellent condition of this locomotive, it was decided to convert this to DCC in a way that, if required, could be easily reversed back to its original condition and so the wiring that was removed is supplied in a plastic bag (see pictures)…
The loco comes in its original box and inner packaging (both in average condition for their age – see pictures) and will be test run on the loop of track on both systems again before dispatching…
The NCE Powercab controller, Gaugemaster DCC26 decoder chip, the Hornby controller and test track are not included in the auction, just the loco…
