Heljan class 17 DCC fitted (address 0005) with sound and directional lights.
Firstly and most importantly this is a spares or repairs only sale. The reason is because the motor refuses to turn. It doesnt even attempt to. Ive tried it on both DCC and DC control with no success. The locomotive responds normally to DCC commands, the lights respond correctly, all sound functions are available and the loco engine revs according to selected speed. It thinks it is moving but it actually isnt. I found something online that suggested there was a fault with the class 17 motors causing them to spontaneously burn out, suspect this could have happened to this engine. There are no nasty smells from the engine but Im struggling to find another explanation. I have seen a new motor for the class 17 at howes models online shop for 15.50, but Im not technically minded in the slightest so this would best be left to someone who is.
Now that the bad bit is out of the way onto the good bits. The engine is in outstanding cosmetic condition, with only very minor marks that can barely be seen. It is excellently detailed and comes with original sealed extra detailing pack (snowploughs etc). It has directional lighting consisting of twin red tail lights and illuminated head code board. It has sprung buffers, and is boxed with instructions. The box has some shelf wear.
Fitted with DCC sound, dont know who by though. It has a full range of sounds including start up sequence, various horns, speed related engine noises, brake squeal etc. There are 3 photos of the top, left and right hand sides of the engine showing the chips and speaker. May be of some use for identification purposes?
Like I said this is a spares or repairs only sale, hopefully someone knows how to fix this and get it back running again.

Just re-tested the engine to identify the different F-code sound functions and it was intermittent on its response before totally refusing to respond at all. The entire loco is receiving no power at all with either DCC or DC current. It started out working fine, then got removed from the track, was repositioned again and wouldnt work. It then worked again after a few minutes of head scratching and a light tap, but the next time it was repositioned it wouldnt work and I havent had it working since. Just to be clear, when it is receiving power the lights and sounds all work correctly so I believe its either a loose connection or dodgy decoder chip? Both of which could possibly explain the original issue of the non-functioning motor.
