Believed to have been solidly made and painted to a simple design many years ago.
A heavy loco, not sure if proprietary make or scratchbuilt. The loco and tender have been made mainly from sheet brass with a tinplate front end and cylinder mountings. Fitted with an early motor and Leeds type wheels with slotted screw centres. I run it occasionally, and tried it again this morning. It’s a lively loco, photo no.12 shows it running at speed today. A bit hesitant, probably not used enough and will need a service, so is offered as a restoration project. There is some fine fatigue lines on some of the driving wheels’ treads, (middle wheels flangeless) but it’s never got worse and hasn’t affected its performance.
3-rail coarse scale electric, works well from my 12v Clipper Controller. Has pickups on both engine and tender, 3 link couplings, solid buffers.
Detail could be improved or use as it is. I’m concentrating now on BR (M Region). Ideal on a garden railway
Looks good with a rake of wagons behind it. Useful loco, the 28xx class lasted until the 1960’s I believe.
Displays well, and looks the part.
