For sale is an unusual lithographed tinplate Gauge 1 “Tar Wagon”, made by Georges Carette of Nuremburg, Germany in 1909 for the British export market. Tar wagons of the type of which this item is modelled on were used to transport tar by rail for the purpose of building roadways. This very interesting wagon is 100% totally original in every detail, and measures 21 cms in length, and also appeared briefly in the Bassett-Lowke catalogue of the period. Please disregard the camera flash light reflections which appear in some of the pictures which form part of the description.
