A 4mm scale, 9mm gauge cast whitemetal loco body kit to make an extremely rare locomotive type;- Fireless locomotives were employed where highly flammable materials were handled,, such as paper stores, fuel depots & refineries etc. these would be charged up from an external source of high-pressure steam, the ‘boiler’ being a heavily-insulated pressure vessel, & the locos could work for up to 4 hours before needing to be recharged..
This kit was originally designed to fit either the Bachmann N-gauge ‘switcher’ or Ibertren ‘Cuckoo’ chassis, but there are numerous alternatives out there, including purpose-built examples from ‘N-drive’ & similar.
