For sale is an HO Scale 57ft Mechanical Reefer (refrigerated vehicle) hand decorated as operated by Southern Pacific with running number SPFE453195 fully assembled and fitted with Kadee couplers. In original box. Would look good on any US railroad layout. This is Athearn Kit #5465. Box has some wear and markings. The standard decorated Athearn Kit #5465 is UPFE running number 457603. All my reefers have unique numbers so will look great together in a consist.
PFE was an American railroad refrigerator car leasing company that at one point was the largest refrigerator car operator in the world. Modern cars owned by PFE typically carried both UP and SP heralds and either “Union Pacific Fruit Express” or “Southern Pacific Fruit Express”. The reporting marks were UPFE for cars operated by Union Pacific or SPFE for cars operated by Southern Pacific.
