Arnold HN4109 N Scale CIWL Flche d’Or Ep. II Pullman Lounge Car N 4008 w/ Kitchen
This is a brand new Arnold N Scale Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits (CIWL) First-Class Pullman Lounge Car N 4008 with Kitchen from the Flche d’Or train. This Pullman Lounge Car with Kitchen (or Voiture Salon Pullman avec Cuisine) is in excellent condition, having never been used.
Includes the following:
Rolling low profile metal wheels and Rapido couplers 11″ (282mm) minimum turning radius on groundlevel track, and 15″ (381mm) minimum turning radius on viaduct track OriginalArnold jewel case All part details are included and pre-attached
First-Class Pullman Lounge Car N 4008 with Kitchen comes from Arnolds 3-car Flche d’Or train, Arnold HN4109. Arnold’s original prototype is a 24-seat Pullman “Couplage” (one saloon car with kitchen paired with one saloon car without, where the kitchen serves both coaches) Lounge with kitchen.
La Flche d’Or (English: The Golden Arrow) was a luxurious boat train of the Chemin de Fer du Nord and later Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits (CIWL). It linked Paris with Calais, where passengers took the ferry to Dover to join the Golden Arrow of the Southern Railway and later British Railways, which took them on to London.
These Pullman Cars were constructed in 1926 for use on the French portion of the Fleche d’Or (the Enlish portion being the Golden Arrow) train. The cars were built in England by the Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon Company, and the Midland Railway Carriage and Wagon Company.
The Pullman couplage coach are in two types:
First Class – 24 seat with Kitchen (car numbers 4001 through 4015)
First Class – 32 seat Parlour (car numbers 4016 through 4030)
Between 1926 and 1932, these fine coaches featured a stunning Umber and Crme color scheme with white rooftops. After 1932, CIWL painted these coaches in their signature blue.
