Partners Desk Hand Made Using Timbers From Railway Station.. Condition is Used.
All timbers used to make this desk were taken out of the roof of the engine shed at West Station Bexhill-On-Sea. Around 20 pieces of furniture were made, mainly dining tables & one desk which is this one.Commissioned by myself & made around 20 years ago by Woodstocks Furniture Ltd.I knew the owners of the engine shed and they were refurbishing the whole building and putting a new steel roof on the shed at the time and to save them having to pay for the removal of the timbers I said I would take the whole roof away free, which we did.I have used this desk almost everyday since it was made so its in used condition.It measures 64 long 30 deep & 30 high.It breaks down in to three sections for transport. It has a leather inlay on the top & 6 dovetailed drawers. Three raised & fielded panels on every side and false drawers on the back so it can sit in the middle of a room and look the same all round. The t&g boarding used in the drawer bases was the boarding used in the roof and although it was cleaned & sanded still has a faint smell of sut when you open the drawers.Its a beautiful piece of hand made furniture with a history & needs to be appreciated by a new owner now.You are welcome to come and view.More photos available on request.It can be delivered at extra cost so please ask.
