POST-WAR (1945) LNER replacement steel carriages for pre-1922 Great Northern Gresley and other area coaches.
Originally liveried in painted ‘mockteak’, and repainted in the late 40s and early 50s into carmine and cream. Final livery was BR maroon, and many lasted into the late 60s with diners and sleepers a little longer.
This has the shorter brake compartment for routes where there was less parcel / light freight traffic. A parcels vehicle could be added to the train.
