I know very little about this signal but, the most important thing, it has been tested and works properly. I’m assuming it’s meant for OO/HO but it would, quite probably, be OK for TT scale too.
There is no sign of a maker’s mark and my research has turned-up nothing really similar. It’s two aspects(Red and Green) are lit by bulbs, not LEDs, suggesting it is not of contemporary manufacture.
I tested it using 9v and everything worked well – maybe even a little too bright. Some experimentation with your power supply should give you a pleasing brightness. Unusual, even today, the wires are correctly colour-coded, red for red, green for green, with a common black wire. Looking at the wires, they don’t appear to have been used.
Many areas of the black art of signalling are a mystery to me but this seems to be a home/starter signal, although I would have expected the red and green to be the other way round – green on top. It could easily be a continental or U.S. type but it would not look out-of-place on a British outline layout.
It is designed to be mounted above a hole in the baseboard but the wires are thin and could easily be disguised on the top, if required. The complete signal stands about 60mm tall, including the two bits of base, or about 43mm from the bottom of the pole.
With such simple wiring, this signal will be easy to install and could be in use in just a few minutes. If you do need a bit of guidance with the installation, feel free to ask; I could also find you a switch, if required.
The signal will be shipped in a sturdy little box for just 1.35, making this an inexpensive addition to any layout.
