Trix HO KPEV T13 Class 0-8-0 Steam Tank loco (7901) strong runner, EXC condition
The KPEV (Prussian state railways) class T13 locos were built in large numbers by several manufacturers over the period 1910-1922in Konigsberg ‘Fireless’ steam locomotives, whilst similar to conventional steam locos, have a steam accumulator instead of a boiler. This is filled with compressed air or steam from a stationary boiler. Many countries developed such locomotives, their use being primarily in areas of risk from fire or explosion (chemical works, coalmines etc) where conventional locos were more risky. This listed example is of a type C loco built at the Meiningen works in the former GDR. Some 200 of these locos were built into the 1980s given the GDRs reliance upon lignite extraction as opposed to imported coal.
This loco was made in China for Liliput (‘by Bachmann’) from 2000-on. Removal of the firebox door and an inner cast cover reveals an 8-pin decoder (photo 9) although this isn’t the typical ‘socket’ I’m used to seeing but a board with 8 nodes to which a chip (NOT supplied) presumably has to be soldered. Otherwise the loco has to be run on DC, which is how I have tested its performance.
The model features 8-wheel drive, 2 wheels with traction tyres, and 8-wheel pick-up. The loco has twin directional lights at the front and rear.
The loco is supplied unboxed and does not have operating lights.
The loco appears to have had very little use. I have lubricated it as appropriate and the loco runs extremely well in both directions and at all speeds (especially at very low speeds akin to its normal operating practice). I can find no defects or damage and apart from some lubricant smudges (which will probably clean off) the loco is in excellent cosmetic condition, with fully intact decals, detailing, buffers and couplings.

I am happy to combine items to save my time and your postage costs, where this is possible.
