This came as part of a job lot I bought recently. Having removed the motor bogie I found that holding leads to the two brushes can make the motor run powerfully. Holding leads against the power pick ups on the rear bogie also (usually!) made it run – but not on the track or with leads against the motor bogie wheels. So I am fairly sure there is some quite minor fault causing a short circuit, but I cannot find it.
