Four 10mm Precision Baseboard Alignment Dowel Assemblies These dowels offer the same ease of fitting as the cabinet makers dowels, but with greater accuracy. Clearance varies between batches, from 0.05mm (0.002″) to 0.12mm (0.005″). The bullet end is mild steel, the socket turned from brass. Some people refer to dowels as ‘baseboard joiners’ but this is misleading as dowels are used only to ensure correct alignment of the baseboards (and therefore the tracks), they do not secure the boards together. To join baseboards securely use toggle clips on portable layouts or nuts & bolts for permanent baseboards. See my other listings. Also available in 8mm & 12mm, please see my other listings. Safety Note: The bullet ends in a sharp point, it is recommended that this is filed down to form a small radius. Fitting Notes To ensure accurate alignment each corresponding pair of baseboard ends should be clamped together & drilled as a pair. Whenever possible this should be done in a pillar drill, before assembly of the baseboards. To ensure that the dowels are fitted securely into the baseboards the holes should be slightly undersized. Initially the board ends should be through drilled to approximately 3mm, followed by a 9.5mm drill (0.5mm smaller than the dowel diameter). The dowels can the be either pressed or lightly hammered into the baseboard end.
